Losses in the Ukrainian IT Sector: 20,000 Specialists Left the Country During Three Years of War

Over the three years of war, the total number of employees in the 50 largest IT companies in Ukraine has decreased by 20,000. In particular, companies N-IX and Grid Dynamics Group experienced a reduction of 50%, while EPAM reduced its team by 31%.

This is reported by Finway

The largest exodus of IT specialists from Ukraine occurred in the second year of the full-scale war, when 10,700 people left the country compared to 7,000 in the first year of the conflict. This period was also marked by a peak in the legalization of Ukrainians abroad. In the third year of the war, the outflow of specialists significantly decreased to just 2,400 people.

Relocation as the Main Reason for the Exodus

The primary reason for the decrease in the number of Ukrainian IT specialists has been their relocation abroad. Over the past three years, numerous companies have actively opened new offices in other countries. The largest number of offices of Ukrainian IT companies has been established in Poland, where more than 30 representatives of industry leaders operate.

Popular Relocation Locations

Among other popular countries for opening offices are Bulgaria (12 offices), Latin American countries (12), Romania (11), Portugal (8), and India (7). This indicates the activity of Ukrainian IT companies in the international market and their desire to adapt to new conditions.
