The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) announced the return of bitcoin mining equipment totaling $2.7 million, which was stolen during a “brazen robbery” at the city’s airport. According to information provided by the police, detectives from the cargo theft investigation unit, in collaboration with the Los Angeles Port Police, Union Pacific Railroad Police, and airport police, arrested two suspects, Oscar David Borrero-Manchola and Yonayker Rafael Martinez-Ramos, on suspicion of committing this crime.

Stolen Mining Equipment and Arrest of Suspects

As a result of searches of warehouse facilities in the San Fernando Valley, located near Los Angeles, law enforcement discovered stolen goods worth a total of $4 million. Among the items found were bitcoin mining rigs that had disappeared from Los Angeles International Airport while preparations were being made to ship the cargo by plane to Hong Kong.

Investigation Details and Possible Arrests

According to the police, both suspects are members of a South American gang involved in thefts and the sale of stolen goods in Los Angeles. Borrero-Manchola and Martinez-Ramos were taken to Van Nuys jail. The former was released after being charged with receiving stolen property, while the latter remained in custody without bail. The LAPD stated that “the investigation is ongoing, and further arrests are possible.” Earlier, media reports indicated the exposure of an underground casino in South Korea disguised as cryptocurrency mining.
