Strengthening Ukraine’s Energy Sector
The main topic of the negotiations was the strengthening of Ukraine’s energy system, which is under constant threat from military actions by the Russian Federation. The Ukrainian government is currently focusing its efforts on preparing for the next heating season, expanding cooperation with European countries to attract the equipment and resources necessary for the effective restoration of energy facilities.
“In Riga, we are discussing with Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs the increase in the supply of the necessary equipment, including the possibility of expedited transfer of equipment from Latvian thermal power plants for the restoration of energy facilities in Ukrainian cities,” Svyrydenko reported.
Support from Latvia
As a result of the negotiations, an agreement was reached to transfer equipment from Latvian thermal power plants to Ukraine, which will accelerate the restoration of energy facilities in various regions of the country. The Ukrainian government is actively working to attract international technical assistance and resources, particularly from partners in the European Union, to ensure the stability of energy supply for citizens and protect critical infrastructure from new attacks.
Yulia Svyrydenko emphasized the importance of international support for effective winter preparations. Ukraine is counting on further strengthening its partnership with Latvia and other countries regarding the restoration and protection of the energy sector.
