A large-scale scheme of illegal gas appropriation has been uncovered in Ukraine, involving one of the gas-filling compressor stations located in Sumy. As a result of the joint efforts of security specialists from Naftogaz of Ukraine and LLC Gas Distribution Networks of Ukraine, significant violations in the accounting and distribution of natural gas have been established.

Detection of Discrepancies and Illegal Activities
During a detailed analysis, specialists discovered substantial discrepancies between the declared and actual volumes of gas consumed. Furthermore, it was found that the company had unlawfully expanded its operations into the Vinnytsia region without the necessary permits. This led to the initiation of a criminal proceeding by law enforcement agencies based on a complaint from representatives of Gas Distribution Networks of Ukraine.
Investigative Actions and Consequences of Violations
During the investigative actions, unauthorized interference with the operation of the gas meter at the enterprise in Sumy was recorded. In Vinnytsia, law enforcement officials discovered a probable site of illegal tapping into the gas distribution network. Following inspections at both sites, relevant violation reports were compiled, based on which the responsible individuals were imposed fines totaling 56.6 million hryvnias for the theft of gas.
A total of 25 searches were conducted, evidence of illegal activities was seized, and one official in the Vinnytsia region has already been notified of suspicion.
The investigation is ongoing, and the collected evidence allows for holding accountable those responsible for the significant gas thefts.
