In Kyiv, traffic on the Podilsky Bridge will be fully opened in both directions on August 23

On August 23, Kyiv will see the full opening of the Podilsky Bridge crossing: traffic for vehicles, public transport, and cyclists will be possible in all lanes in both directions. At the same time, access through both sections of the newly constructed tunnel will be opened. Currently, final technical works are being completed at the site.

Details of the Updated Infrastructure of the Podilsky Bridge

As reported by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, the section from Naberezhno-Khreshchatytska Street to the Rusanyvsky Gardens has been equipped with four lanes for vehicles, public transport, and cyclists in each direction. On other sections of the route, there are two lanes. Bidirectional bike paths have been created, totaling over 11 kilometers in length.

“Today I checked how the road workers completed these tasks on the largest infrastructure project in Ukraine, spanning a total of 10 km,” Klitschko noted.

In addition, an additional traffic light has been installed at the intersection with Central Sadova Street on the Podilsky Bridge, allowing for a change in traffic organization for greater safety. A modern transport interchange hub has also been established for passengers of the high-speed tram and city train.

Prerequisites for the Opening and Its Significance for the City

The Podilsky Bridge crossing over the Dnipro River with an exit to Petar Vershygora Street towards Roman Shukhevych Avenue was partially opened on December 1, 2024. At that time, traffic was allowed for passenger cars and public transport. Now, after the completion of all works, the bridge will be fully accessible to Kyiv residents, significantly easing communication between the left and right banks of the capital and enhancing the comfort of moving around the city.
