Inflation in Ukraine Exceeded 15% for the First Time in Two Years

Інфляція в Україні перевищила 15% вперше за два роки.

In April 2025, inflation in the consumer market of Ukraine reached 0.7%. Year-on-year, price growth accelerated to 15.1%, an increase compared to 14.6% in March, noted the State Statistics Service.

In particular, prices for food products and non-alcoholic beverages rose by 1.8% in April. The most significant price increases were seen in pork and fruits, which grew by 7.9%. At the same time, there was a decrease in prices for some products: eggs, rice, and butter became cheaper by 2.5% to 0.2%, respectively.

Changes in Prices for Alcohol and Transport

Prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 1.3%, linked to a 2.2% rise in the cost of tobacco products. However, transport prices decreased by 0.3%, primarily due to a 2.2% reduction in the cost of fuel and lubricants. Meanwhile, fares for road and rail passenger transport rose by 0.9% and 0.8%, respectively.

OECD Forecasts

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) forecasts that inflation will remain high in 2025 at 13.2% by the end of the year, and is expected to decrease to 7.1% in 2026. Thus, the challenges related to inflation remain relevant for the Ukrainian economy.
