In 2025, according to forecasts, there may be an increase in electricity and gas prices. This was reported by Andriy Zakrevskyi, Deputy Director of the Association of Energy and Natural Resources of Ukraine, during a broadcast on the “Espreso” channel. He noted:
This is reported by Finway
“Starting tomorrow, we need to focus on imports, we need to resolve the situation with Ukrnaftoburinnya and Smart Energy. Because we will need every cubic meter of natural gas, and we should expect an increase in electricity prices this year, which has long been delayed. And for gas.”
The expert believes that the optimal solution is to transition to an open market.
“In general, the simplest thing to do is to transition to an open market, then the state could offload these obligations regarding gas procurement and so on. People are not idiots; they see the price difference between gas and gas-electric generation, we just need to allow them to trade freely.”
Zakrevskyi also expressed the opinion that in summer, extraction companies should be allowed to export gas and sell it abroad at favorable prices.
“Private companies should be allowed to connect to the electricity grids freely, then we will overcome everything. Currently, we have a stable deficit of about four gigawatts of electricity capacity. But you have seen that people have adapted. So this is one of the main points, that even this winter, as I predicted, we are adapting, starting to create fewer peaks and we have successfully gone through this autumn-winter period.”
