Imports of Goods to Ukraine Exceeded Exports in 2026: Key Trade Indicators

In the first two months of 2026, the volume of goods imported into Ukraine significantly exceeded exports. According to official data, the total value of goods brought into the country amounted to $14.8 billion, while exports were valued at $6.5 billion. Taxable imports in January-February reached $5.2 billion, accounting for 78% of the total value of imported goods.

Major Suppliers and Export Markets for Ukraine

Among the countries supplying the most goods to Ukraine, China leads with a figure of $4 billion. Poland ranks second with $1.4 billion, while Turkey comes in third with $1.1 billion. In terms of exports, the largest markets for Ukrainian goods were Poland ($713 million), Turkey ($563 million), and Italy ($428 million).

Import and Export Structure: Key Goods and Budget Revenues

In January-February 2026, 71% of imports to Ukraine were concentrated in three main categories of goods:

  • Machinery, Equipment, and Vehicles — $6 billion. During the customs clearance of these goods, 32.9 billion UAH was paid to the budget, which constitutes 26% of all customs payments.
  • Fuel and Energy Products — $2.6 billion. From this category, 49.7 billion UAH was received by the state treasury, representing 39% of total customs revenues.
  • Chemical Industry Products — $2 million. For these, 15.9 billion UAH was paid, accounting for 12% of customs payments.

The largest export goods from Ukraine remain food products ($4 billion), metals and products made from them ($589 million), as well as machinery, equipment, and vehicles ($532 million). During January-February 2026, when exporting goods subject to export duties, 318.5 million UAH was directed to the budget.

Additionally, it is noted that the tax burden on 1 kg of taxable imports during the specified period was $0.54 per kilogram.
