The General Director of “Ukrposhta”, Igor Smilyansky, reported that his average salary after taxes in 2024 amounted to 577,200 UAH per month. He noted that he paid taxes not only in Ukraine but also in the USA, where he has tax residency. Smilyansky shared this information on his Telegram channel.

He compared his salary to that of U.S. President Donald Trump, debunking the myth that his income is higher.
“Salary + 15% bonus for working with state secrets – 11,723,286 UAH before taxes, or an average of 970,009 UAH per month. Since the beginning of 2022 and until today, I have not received a single hryvnia in bonuses. And this was my decision, although I had the right to do so under my contract. From this salary, I paid 2,398,153 UAH in income tax + military tax. I also paid approximately 2,100,000 UAH in taxes in the USA, where I am a tax resident,” he stated.
Smilyansky’s average monthly salary is 577,244 UAH, which is equivalent to $166,913 per year ($13,909 per month) after taxes.
“This is definitely less than Trump’s, as the U.S. president earns $400,000 a year (in addition to the $16 million spent every weekend on his flight home to Florida from Washington). I think after today’s news, he will lose interest in the leadership position at Ukrposhta,” Smilyansky emphasized.
Smilyansky also noted that ten years ago, while working as the director of Boston Consulting Group, he earned more. He emphasized that during his tenure, the salaries of production staff, such as postal workers, operators, and drivers, have increased sevenfold. In 2016, their average salary was 2,200 UAH, and now it has reached 15,700 UAH.
“Today, the average salary of production (non-managerial) employees at Ukrposhta is about 15,728 UAH ($380) per month, which is approximately 60 times less than mine. So, in response to the populists’ question, during Smilyansky’s tenure, the salaries of employees have increased by 7 (the lucky seven) times and have grown at more than twice the rate of the CEO’s salary,” he concluded.
