Hungary has temporarily halted diesel fuel exports to Ukraine and does not plan to resume them until the transportation of oil through the Druzhba pipeline is restored. This was announced by Hungary’s Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto during his speech.

Export Suspension – A Result of Oil Transit Cessation
According to Szijjarto, the suspension of diesel deliveries is a direct consequence of the cessation of Russian oil transit through Ukrainian territory. Hungary previously played a significant role in supplying Ukraine with energy resources, including gas, electricity, and diesel fuel; however, the current decision is a response to the situation regarding crude oil transportation.
“Diesel fuel supplies to Ukraine will not resume until the Ukrainians restore the transportation of crude oil through the Druzhba pipeline,” said the Hungarian diplomat.
Alternative Routes and Hungary’s Reserves
The minister noted that Hungary has managed to ensure its own energy security and has formed energy reserves sufficient for more than three months. Additionally, the country is actively working on creating alternative oil supply routes, including through maritime transport.
Szijjarto also emphasized that according to the European Union’s decision, Hungary, along with Slovakia, currently has the right to import Russian crude oil by sea until the pipeline is operational again. Hungary has already begun constructing a new logistics route, and the first volumes of oil purchased for maritime transport may arrive in the country as early as mid-March.
