Sectors and Leaders of Hungarian Business
The banking sector makes a significant contribution to the overall financial indicators. The absolute leader is “OTP Bank,” whose annual revenue amounts to about 12 billion UAH. Among the most notable representatives of Hungarian business in Ukraine are also agricultural construction companies, port logistics operators, as well as financial and leasing structures, including “OTP Leasing.”
“This indicates a wide diversification of Hungarian capital in Ukraine – from the agricultural sector to financial services.”
The growth in revenue is particularly noticeable in the pharmaceutical sector, where some companies have increased their turnover several times over the year. Such dynamic indicators reflect an active phase of development in certain market segments.
Geographical Structure and Main Directions
A significant portion of Hungarian companies is concentrated in western Ukraine — almost half of them operate in Transcarpathia. At the same time, many enterprises are registered in Kyiv, and another notable cluster is forming in the southern part of the country. Moreover, the capital remains the main center of the largest financial flows generated by Hungarian business.
Regarding the sectoral structure, Hungarian investors prefer wholesale trade, real estate, the agricultural sector, logistics, and warehousing services. Other sectors are represented sporadically, but together they form a significant share of business activity.
Thus, Hungarian business in Ukraine is characterized by a high concentration of revenue and stable growth dynamics. It is also worth noting that a strong layer of entrepreneurs with high turnovers has formed in Ukraine: about 74 thousand company owners declare an annual income of over 10 million UAH, which accounts for approximately 20% of all entrepreneurs reporting their financial results.
