Tips for Preparing for Possible Power Outages

Serhiy Kovalenko offered a number of recommendations to help Ukrainians cope with temporary power supply interruptions:

  • Purchase or check the functionality of existing flashlights and power banks in advance to have a backup source of light and the ability to charge devices.
  • Develop an action plan in case the electricity goes out for an extended period.
  • Keep all electronic devices and external batteries fully charged at all times.
  • Store a supply of water and non-perishable food at home.

“Autumn is a somewhat anxious time for energy workers. What will happen this autumn, of course, no one knows, but given the recent shelling, there is little optimism… So for now, we should not relax, and I recommend that the population and businesses also be prepared for various scenarios,” said the head of YASNO.

Current Situation in Ukraine’s Energy System

Despite the fact that DTEK currently does not plan either regular or emergency power outages, the situation in the energy sector remains complex. In the event of escalation or new damage to the energy infrastructure, outage schedules may be reinstated. Experts advise not to lose vigilance and to proactively ensure one’s own energy security.
