Parents of Ukrainian children who are abroad can obtain a tax identification number (TIN) for them without the need to personally visit Ukraine. Thanks to modern services, the procedure has become accessible both in person through an authorized representative and remotely, including online or by postal delivery.

How to Submit Documents for TIN Registration
To register a child in the state register, parents or legal representatives must fill out a special application. It can be submitted in one of the following ways:
- through one of the parents or a representative who is in Ukraine;
- by power of attorney through an authorized person;
- through state electronic services online;
- by postal delivery to the relevant authority.
List of Required Documents for Registration
The TIN is obtained by one of the parents or a legal representative. For this, the following documents are required:
- the child’s birth certificate;
- a document verifying the identity of the applicant;
- proof of residence.
If foreign documents are used, a translation into Ukrainian, certified in the prescribed manner, must be provided. In some cases, confirmation of the child’s citizenship may also be required.
The updated approach allows parents to quickly obtain a key document for their child, regardless of the country of residence. This is especially important in the context of the mass departure of Ukrainians abroad.
How to Receive the Completed TIN
After reviewing the application, the tax number can be obtained in one of the following ways:
- by mail to the child’s location abroad;
- through diplomatic representations of Ukraine;
- through an authorized representative by power of attorney.
The TIN is necessary for carrying out a wide range of legal and financial actions in Ukraine: obtaining official documents, opening bank accounts, and receiving state and social services. Thanks to the innovations, obtaining this document has become significantly easier for families temporarily or permanently residing abroad.
Starting from January 2026, Ukraine has also implemented a support program for parents called “eYasla,” which provides financial assistance to mothers or other legal representatives who decide to return to work early after maternity leave.
