How Artificial Intelligence in Mriia is Changing the Work of Ukrainian Teachers

From now on, Ukrainian teachers can significantly save time on creating tests and homework assignments thanks to the implementation of artificial intelligence in the state educational ecosystem “Mriia”. The new feature—a test generator based on AI—allows for the rapid creation of unique tasks in just a few minutes.

Capabilities of the Test Generator and Principles of Operation

The system operates entirely within the “Mriia” platform without the involvement of third-party services. The teacher selects a topic from the curriculum plan, after which the generator automatically creates corresponding questions. The quality and relevance of the tasks to the educational program are ensured by:

  • Digitizing and uploading over 1300 textbooks from 30 subjects, covering 300 thousand pages;
  • Adhering to the methodological recommendations of the Ministry of Education and Science and modern principles of test task creation;
  • Utilizing a double-check system: after the initial creation, questions undergo additional validation by another artificial intelligence.

Teachers retain full control over the tests: they can edit the generated tasks, change answer options, or add their own questions.

Smart Checking, Anti-Cheating, and Future Development

The tool not only generates but also checks the tasks. After students complete the test, the system analyzes the answers and suggests a grade, which the teacher can adjust. To ensure the integrity of the assessment, an anti-cheating function has been implemented: during the test, it is impossible to take a screenshot or copy text in the application.

“The quality of the tests is rated highly—on average 8 out of 10—which allows most materials to be used immediately without significant edits.”

Currently, the functionality is being tested in 150 schools, where over 4000 tasks have already been created. In the coming months, the pilot project is planned to be expanded to another 500 schools. In the future, the tool will be available to all educational institutions using “Mriia”.

The test generator is just the first step in integrating AI into the system. Future plans include the implementation of a schedule generator that will automatically create a balanced lesson timetable, as well as the creation of an educational graph that will select useful content, clubs, and build individual educational paths for each child.

“Mriia” is free for all schools, teachers, students, and parents. The team supports educational institutions at every stage, helping with profile setup, updating data in the educational registry, and training staff. Support is provided via phone, in chats, and a Facebook community has been created for educators to share experiences. More information about the ecosystem can be found at mriia.gov.ua/app.
