Google has announced the implementation of the AI model Gemini in the Chrome browser for Mac and Windows users in the U.S., as well as the launch of a range of new agent functions and enhanced artificial intelligence capabilities.

New Gemini Features in Chrome and Integration with Google Services
From now on, all Chrome users in the U.S. running on Windows and macOS can access Gemini features without an additional subscription. To activate the tool, simply click on the Gemini icon in the upper right corner of the browser. The AI helps analyze information on any page, tailoring data to the user’s needs, such as adapting quotes or succinctly explaining complex materials.
Gemini’s capabilities are expanding: the AI can now work with multiple tabs simultaneously, significantly simplifying data comparison and workflow organization. When planning a trip, Gemini can structure options for flights and hotels, and when selecting tech products, it can create comparison tables of models. Additionally, users will soon receive a feature to recover previously viewed pages without needing to refer to the browser history: just ask where specific information was found, and Chrome will immediately return to the relevant resource.
Agent Functions and the Future of AI Development in Chrome
Google is actively expanding Gemini’s integration with its own services, such as YouTube, Google Maps, and Google Calendar. This allows, for example, finding specific segments in videos or scheduling meetings without leaving an open tab. Eventually, the AI agent will be able to perform routine tasks—from placing online orders to signing up for various services, automating payment selection and cart filling.
“AI in Chrome is set to become not just a search assistant, but a full-fledged agent that takes on real tasks.”
Another significant update will be the launch of AI Mode, which will appear at the end of September 2025. With this feature, users will be able to engage in dialogue with the AI in the Chrome address bar, ask complex questions, and receive structured answers directly in the browser. For example, instead of a standard search for “best mattress,” users will be able to specify characteristics and continue the discussion in a conversational format.
Initially, AI Mode will be available only to users in the U.S., but it will later be expanded to other countries and languages. Chrome will also begin to automatically suggest relevant questions related to the current page, speeding up searches and providing quick AI summaries.
Google emphasizes that Gemini’s agent capabilities will be gradually implemented over the coming months, with the main goal being to create a smart digital assistant capable of taking on users’ everyday tasks.
