Musk Plans Merger of SpaceX, xAI, and Tesla: Prospects and Risks for Investors

«Суперкорпорація» Маска: перспективи об’єднання SpaceX, xAI та Tesla

Elon Musk has taken a significant step towards creating a global corporation that could unite his leading companies – SpaceX, xAI, and Tesla. Currently, SpaceX is preparing for a potential acquisition of xAI, indicating Musk’s genuine intentions to establish a powerful conglomerate in the fields of technology and innovation.

Musk’s Strategy: Integrating Artificial Intelligence and Space Technologies

The idea of merging SpaceX and xAI seems quite feasible, as both companies are private and entirely under Musk’s control. Musk envisions the placement of data processing centers directly in orbit, using space as an ideal environment for energy-intensive artificial intelligence systems. This would allow SpaceX to provide the necessary infrastructure, while xAI would become the intellectual core of the new system.

The Complex Path to Merging with Tesla

The situation with Tesla is significantly more complicated. This company is undergoing substantial changes: electric vehicle sales have been declining for two years, and the main focus is shifting towards the development of robotaxis, autonomous driving, and the creation of humanoid robots. Meanwhile, Tesla’s market capitalization exceeds $1.4 trillion. Merging with Tesla would require shareholder approval, which carries risks and potential conflicts of interest.

Despite the challenges, Musk’s supporters are confident in the potential of such a merger. They believe that combining the development of robots, autonomous vehicles, and rockets is a logical step. As Tesla investor Arthur Laffer Jr. notes, “if you are building robots, autonomous cars, and rockets – all of this fits perfectly together.” SpaceX could provide Tesla with data processing capabilities, while Tesla could offer a broad market for sales and scaling innovations.

However, not everyone is excited. Tesla investors are concerned that:

  • the company may overpay for SpaceX;
  • Musk’s valuations of private companies are opaque;
  • the high cost of the deal could dilute Tesla shareholders’ stakes.

Experts emphasize that after SpaceX goes public, the process of evaluating the potential merger would become more transparent, as an independent market price would emerge.

In the near future, the most likely scenario the market anticipates is the merger of SpaceX with xAI. This would not hinder a potential IPO for SpaceX, which could value the company at over $1 trillion. At the same time, a complete merger of SpaceX, Tesla, and xAI would require significant trust in Elon Musk’s strategic vision.
