From June 1, limits on card transfers in Ukraine will be reduced

Starting June 1, 2025, new rules for card transfers will be implemented in Ukraine. According to the new requirements, transfers from card to card will be reduced to 100,000 hryvnias without income verification, which is 50,000 hryvnias lower than the previous limit. Banks are advised to begin preparations for these changes now, as a certain set of documents will be required for seamless transfers.

These innovations are being introduced despite the fact that the National Bank did not extend the limit on outgoing transfers of 150,000 hryvnias per month. This is related to banks signing a Memorandum to ensure transparency in the payment services market, which sets new limits and obligations for banks to comply with them.

“The limits under the Memorandum apply to outgoing transfers,” Monobank reported.

It is important to note that these limits do not apply to transfers between accounts of the same bank. If a client has documented income exceeding the established limits, banks may carry out transfers within the confirmed income.

According to analysts, clients can approach banks to increase their limits by providing the necessary documents. Anna Dovhalska, Deputy Chair of the Board of Globus Bank, noted that Ukrainians should take care to document their income in advance to avoid inconveniences.

Among the recommended documents are: OK5 and OK7 certificates, tax declarations, payroll statements, confirmations of payments from government agencies, and documents verifying volunteer activities.

It is also important to optimize the number of bank accounts. Dovhalska advises against opening an excessive number of accounts and instead suggests closing inactive ones. Additionally, clients can use digital tools for payments, such as “Diia” and the taxpayer’s electronic cabinet.

To avoid problems with transfers, it is also advisable to set up automatic payments in mobile applications and personal accounts when paying for utilities and subscribing to electronic services.
