From April 1, pensions will be increased in Ukraine for certain categories of citizens

Starting April 1, 2025, pension indexing will begin in Ukraine for those who continue to work during their retirement. The recalculation applies only to citizens who have had 24 months pass since their last pension recalculation or appointment, which occurred as of March 1, 2025.

Additionally, pensions will be increased for individuals who have reached a certain age. According to the Ministry of Social Policy, within the framework of indexing, pensions will be raised starting April 1 for 629,000 working pensioners. There are a total of 2.8 million pensioners in Ukraine, with an average pension of 6302 hryvnias.

“Increased pension payments and adjustments for previous months (April-May) will be received by working pensioners in June.”

This is due to the specifics of the operation of state registries. In particular, pensions will be increased by an amount starting from 500 hryvnias for those Ukrainians who have high salaries and continue to work.

For example, if a pensioner receives a pension of 5000 hryvnias and has 30 years of service, their pension may increase by 333 hryvnias. For a pension of 6000 hryvnias, the increase will be 400 hryvnias, and for a pension of 7000 hryvnias, it will be 562 hryvnias.

Age Supplements: Who Will Receive Increases

According to information from the publication “On Pension,” the increases apply to non-working citizens who have a certain amount of insurance experience. Supplements are calculated based on age and pension amount:

  • Individuals aged 65+: if the pension is less than 3758 hryvnias, a supplement is established to reach this level (with 35 years of service for men and 30 years for women).
  • Individuals aged 80+: a similar supplement is provided for those whose pension does not reach 3758 hryvnias (minimum service – 25 years for men, 20 years for women).
  • Individuals aged 70-80: if the pension is less than 3613 hryvnias, it is also supplemented (with 35/30 years of service).
  • Individuals under 70: the pension cannot be less than 3323 hryvnias (for those with 35/30 years of service or individuals with first group disabilities).
  • Non-working pensioners: if the pension is less than 3038 hryvnias, it is increased to this level.

For those whose insurance experience does not reach 35/30 years, the amount of supplements is calculated proportionally. At the same time, for individuals aged 75-80, even if their service is 25/20 years, the pension cannot be less than 3613 hryvnias.
