Details of the Incident and Special Operation

The shooting took place on April 18. The assailant opened fire on civilians, resulting in significant casualties. Upon receiving reports of the attack, law enforcement immediately launched a special operation to neutralize the attacker. The assailant was eliminated during the arrest.

Rescue of Hostages and Government Response

During the events, four hostages were successfully rescued. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased and noted that all those affected are receiving necessary assistance.

“Just now, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Ihor Klymenko, reported on the elimination of the attacker in Kyiv who opened fire on ordinary people. All circumstances are being clarified. Currently, five fatalities are known. My condolences to the families and loved ones. As of now, ten people have been hospitalized with injuries and trauma. Everyone is receiving necessary assistance. Four hostages were rescued,” the president stated.

Investigative actions are currently underway to clarify all circumstances of the tragedy.
