“In Tuapse, a fire broke out at the oil refinery due to falling drone debris. There are no casualties. A total of 122 people and 39 units of equipment are involved in the firefighting efforts,” the statement said.
Confirmation of the Incident and Previous Attacks
According to OSINT analysis provided by the Telegram channel Astra, it is indeed the Tuapse oil refinery that is on fire. Their information indicates that only four days have passed since the previous large-scale fire at the company’s marine terminal, which was caused by attacks.
Local residents reported a series of powerful explosions and a new fire at the refinery that night. At this moment, the Ukrainian side has not officially commented on the attack.
Consequences of Strikes on the Oil Refinery
Earlier, on April 16 and 20, Ukraine had already conducted attacks on oil facilities in Tuapse. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, during the strike on April 20, 24 tanks at the oil refinery were destroyed and four more were damaged. This resulted in a large-scale fire that lasted several days. Combustion products were released into the air, and local residents reported what was referred to as “oil rain.” Subsequently, oil products were also found in the sea. It was not until April 23 that local authorities acknowledged the environmental disaster.
Since the beginning of the full-scale war of Russia against Ukraine, facilities on the territory of the Russian Federation have regularly been subjected to air attacks, with oil refineries becoming the most frequent targets in 2024 and 2025. Strikes are also carried out on Russian facilities in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
The majority of such attacks are confirmed by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, emphasizing that the Ukrainian Defense Forces “systematically implement measures aimed at reducing the combat potential of Russian occupation forces, as well as forcing the Russian Federation to cease its armed aggression against Ukraine.”
