Members of the Ethereum community have presented an original project — the Ethereum Time Capsule, dedicated to the tenth anniversary of the launch of the network’s genesis block. The initiators are the organizers of the EthCC conference along with the teams from Protocol Guild and Shutter Network.

How the Ethereum On-Chain Time Capsule Works
Anyone can add their own prediction, meme, image, or message to the digital time capsule by encrypting it with Shutter’s special threshold encryption. To do this, simply visit the official project website, upload your item, and pay a fee of 0.001 ETH (approximately $2.5). Uploading is available from June 30 to July 30, 2025 — the exact period of Ethereum’s anniversary.
The website also allows users to view items already added by participants. All data remains encrypted until the capsule is revealed — this will happen on July 30, 2026, coinciding with the next anniversary of the network. After that, the content will remain permanently in the Ethereum blockchain.
Data Protection and the Project’s Social Value
“By using Shutter [threshold encryption], the capsule ensures that no one — not even the organizers — can access or alter the content until the reveal. What you send remains sealed until it is time to open Ethereum’s collective memory,” reads the official statement.
All funds collected during the project will be donated to Protocol Guild to further support the development of the Ethereum network infrastructure. EthCC founder Jérôme de Tisne emphasized that honoring the community’s cultural heritage is crucial for the sustainable progress of the ecosystem.
