According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, there were 249 combat clashes along the front line over the past day. Ukrainian aviation, missile troops, and artillery struck 13 areas of enemy troop concentration and one other important target.

Intense attacks in eastern Ukraine
In the South Slobozhansk direction, Russian troops carried out 13 attacks in the areas of Veterinarne, Starytsia, Prylipky, Lyman, Synelnykove, Vovchansk Khutory, and Zybyn. In the Kupiansk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled five attempts by the enemy to advance. Ten attacks were recorded in the Lyman, Sloviansk, and Kostiantynivka directions.
The Kramatorsk direction was marked by two attempts by Russian occupiers to push back Ukrainian troops. In the Oleksandrivka direction, there were also three attacks from the enemy.
Pokrovsk direction: highest number of assault attempts
The situation remains most tense in the Pokrovsk direction, where Ukrainian defenders stopped 56 assault actions by Russian troops in the areas of Dorožne, Novooleksandrivka, Rodynske, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Molodetske, Udachne, Muravka, Horykhove, as well as near the settlements of Novyi Donbas, Shevchenko, Bilytske, and Serhiivka.
“In the Pokrovsk direction, our defenders stopped 56 assault actions by the aggressor in the areas of Dorožne, Novooleksandrivka, Rodynske, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Molodetske, Udachne, Muravka, Horykhove, and towards the settlements of Novyi Donbas, Shevchenko, Bilytske, and Serhiivka,” the report states.
In the Huliaipole direction, 35 attacks by the enemy were recorded. Ukrainian forces also repelled two assault actions by Russians in the Dnipro direction near the Antonivskyi Bridge. At the same time, in the Orikhiv direction, the Russian army did not carry out offensive actions.
According to analysts from ISW, from December 2025 to May 2026, Russia gained control over 40.64 square kilometers of territory in Ukraine while losing 281.1 square kilometers.
Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov reported that Ukraine has managed to significantly slow down the advance of Russian troops and gradually regain the initiative at the front. Among the key factors, he mentioned the active work of Ukrainian military personnel, the disconnection of Starlink for the aggressor, and the increase in the number of medium-range drone strikes.
President Volodymyr Zelensky noted in a video address on May 25 that at this moment Ukraine has stronger positions at the front.
