It is expected that the cash market will keep the dollar within the range of 41.6-41.8 UAH per dollar. The situation in the currency market next week will remain influenced by May trends. The dollar exchange rate will be formed according to the policy of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) and the actions of market participants, while the euro exchange rate will depend on global circumstances.

Taras Lesovyi, the director of the financial markets and investment activities department at “Globus Bank,” noted:
“On one hand, supply and demand will be balanced, and NBU’s currency interventions will not exceed $600-800 million per week. On the other hand, neither the level of consumer prices nor the completion of the economic visa-free regime with the EU will harm the currency market. It is expected that consumer prices in June will remain almost unchanged, and the transition to a different trading system with the EU – a comprehensive free trade agreement – will be more or less smooth and not critical for the export revenue received.”
The expert also reminded that Ukraine’s international currency reserves exceed $45 billion, which allows for economic support even in the event of economic emergencies. Regarding the euro exchange rate, Lesovyi believes that its value will still be determined by global trends, particularly it will depend on trading against the dollar.
The specialist added that it is currently unknown how the markets will react to the introduction of new American tariffs on goods from the EU, scheduled for July 9. However, according to him, the value of 1 euro is likely to remain at the level of 1.1-1.15 dollars due to the EU’s swift response.
Forecasting currency changes, he noted that the exchange rate corridors from June 2 to June 8 could be 41.6-41.9 UAH per dollar and 45.5-47 UAH per euro in the interbank market, while in the cash market – 41.6-41.8 UAH per dollar and 45.5-47 UAH per euro. Weekly exchange rate deviations may be approximately 1-1.5% from the initial Monday rate.
