CME Group Launches XRP Futures on May 19, 2025

The CME Group exchange has announced the launch of XRP (XRP) futures on May 19, 2025, pending regulatory approval. This decision reflects the growing institutional acceptance of XRP in the financial world.

This is reported by Finway

Reportedly, traders will have access to contracts in two sizes: 2,500 XRP and 50,000 XRP. Settlements for these contracts will be conducted in fiat currency. Both categories of contracts are based on the CME CF XRP-Dollar index, which is updated daily at 4:00 PM London time.

Growing Interest in XRP

This is not the first time that an altcoin has received futures contracts on CME Group. Previously, the exchange added contracts based on Solana. Giovanni Vichioso, the global head of cryptocurrency products at CME Group, noted that there is high demand for new crypto derivatives, particularly for XRP. He emphasized that the level of acceptance of XRP as both an asset and the XRPL network among institutional investors is continuously increasing.

The XRP market reacted to this news with a significant surge. The price of XRP rose to $2.20 at the time of the announcement but later decreased slightly.

Future Predictions

It is worth noting that a recent report from Kaiko Research expressed confidence that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission will soon approve exchange-traded funds based on XRP.

“The level of acceptance of both the asset and the XRPL network among institutions is continuously increasing,” said Giovanni Vichioso.
