Technical Specifications of the Unique Vessel
The container ship measures 127.8 meters in length, 21.6 meters in width, and has a draft of 6.2 meters. Its carrying capacity is approximately 9,600 tons, making it the largest among electric vessels of its kind in the world. The project was developed by the Shanghai Research and Design Institute of Shipbuilding, while the electric power system was designed by the Shanghai Research Institute of Marine Equipment.
Innovations and Purpose of the Container Ship
In addition to advanced energy solutions, the new container ship is equipped with a modern intelligent management system. It is expected that this vessel will be used for transporting containers in the eastern Chinese province of Zhejiang, specifically on the coastal route between the cities of Ningbo and Zhapu.
The vessel is designed to carry 742 TEU (TEU stands for twenty-foot equivalent unit).
With the implementation of the electric power system and intelligent systems, this project opens new opportunities for the development of eco-friendly shipping in China and worldwide.
