From January to August 2025, Ukraine imported 61,700 passenger electric vehicles, indicating a market growth of 52% compared to the same period last year. Of this number, 14,100 new electric cars were imported, which is 26% more than last year, while 47,600 were used, representing a 62% increase.

Structure of Electric Vehicle Imports and Leading Countries
The total customs value of new electric vehicles imported into Ukraine during this period amounted to 363.5 million USD, while the used car market reached 906.3 million USD. The vast majority of new electric vehicles—92%—were imported from China. Japanese manufacturers ranked second, providing 3% of the supplies, followed by Germany at 2%. Among used electric cars, vehicles from the USA lead, accounting for 40% of imports, followed by South Korea (16%) and Germany (15%).

Government Initiatives and Charging Infrastructure Development
Considering the growing popularity of electric cars, the Ukrainian government has begun developing a Concept for the Development of Charging Station Infrastructure. The main objective of this document is to create a safe and convenient network of charging stations across the country. As of July 2025, over 470 charging stations were already operational along major state highways. At the same time, the need to expand this network remains relevant, particularly on international routes and in local communities.
The global electric vehicle market is also showing record figures: in September 2025, global sales reached 2.1 million electric cars in a single month, setting an absolute record. Since the beginning of the year, global electric vehicle sales have increased by 26%, totaling 14.7 million units.
