Checkpoint ‘Orlivka’ in Odesa Region Attacked by Drones: Infrastructure and Trucks Damaged

On the night of November 22, the Russian army carried out a drone attack in southern Odesa region, resulting in damage to the international checkpoint ‘Orlivka’ on the border with Romania. As a result of the shelling, administrative buildings of the complex and over 10 trucks were damaged, with injuries reported among the civilian population.

Consequences of the Attack and Government Response

According to official information from the Odesa Customs, the drone strikes led to the destruction of the infrastructure of the ‘Orlivka’ ferry complex. The operation of the checkpoint has been temporarily suspended, and citizens are advised to use other nearby checkpoints for crossing the border. Efforts to eliminate the consequences of the shelling are ongoing.

“The international checkpoint Orlivka is temporarily suspending operations. All necessary measures are currently being taken to address the aftermath. We ask that you use other nearby checkpoints for crossing the border.”

Damage and Casualties

The head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleg Kiper, reported that the attack was massive and targeted civilian infrastructure. As a result of the shelling, the facades, roofs, and windows of administrative buildings were damaged, as well as eleven trucks that were parked. Additionally, a public catering establishment was destroyed.

According to preliminary information, two civilians sustained injuries — a 62-year-old and a 56-year-old man. Both have been hospitalized, and their condition is being clarified. Law enforcement agencies reported that one of the injured is a truck driver, and both are citizens of Ukraine.

The Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office has initiated an investigation into the commission of war crimes under part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Prosecutors and police investigators are working at the scene, documenting the aftermath of the attack and collecting evidence of Russia’s criminal activities.
