Audience Growth and New Features
According to representatives from OpenAI, by 2025, the number of ChatGPT users has increased by nearly one and a half times since the beginning of the year, and compared to last year, it has quadrupled. Since March 2025, the audience of the chatbot has grown from 500 to nearly 700 million people weekly. A significant boost to this growth has come from the image generation feature based on GPT-4. In the first week after the launch of this capability, users created over 700 million images.
“I am grateful to the team for making ChatGPT even more useful and fulfilling our mission to ensure that everyone can benefit from AI,” said Nick Terli.
Nick Terli, head of the ChatGPT division, noted that the service is increasingly being used for learning, creativity, and solving complex tasks. According to him, people and teams are mastering new tools and approaches daily, allowing for more effective work with information and data.
User Activity and Business Subscriptions
Significant growth is also observed in the business subscription segment. If in June 2025 the number of paid business users was 3 million, by last week this figure had reached 5 million. Analysts from Sensor Tower reported that users open the ChatGPT app an average of 12 times a month—more than most mobile services, surpassed only by Google and the social network X (formerly Twitter).
In the first half of 2025, the average usage time of ChatGPT was 16 minutes per day, indicating a deep integration of the service into the daily lives of its audience.
In July 2025, OpenAI introduced a universal agent for ChatGPT that can perform complex digital tasks at the user’s request. This new tool allows users to create presentations, analyze competitors, and plan purchases using information from connected services such as Gmail and GitHub.
