Changes have been made in Ukraine regarding the procedure for sick leave payments, which now also apply to employees working part-time. Previously, sick leave was only provided for the primary place of employment, but the new rules allow for assistance from multiple sources.

According to the new regulations:
- Assistance is provided for both the primary place of employment and part-time work;
- Payments also cover entrepreneurs who have an employment contract;
- The law does not impose restrictions on the number of workplaces from which payments can be received.
Overview of the New Payment Conditions
Under the new rules, the employer pays for the first five days of incapacity for work, including in cases of illness. After that, starting from the sixth day, payments are made by the Pension Fund of Ukraine. Special attention is given to sick leave for caring for sick children, which is also paid by the Pension Fund of Ukraine from the first day.
Payment Amounts and Important Details
The amount of sick leave payments ranges from 50% to 100% of the employee’s average salary, depending on the insurance record; however, the total amount must not exceed the maximum allowable limit determined by the base for calculating the unified social contribution (USC).
In the case of an accident at work, payments are made by the employer for the first 17 days, and from the 18th day onwards, by the Pension Fund of Ukraine. If the accident occurred during part-time work, the employer pays only for the first five days, and thereafter, again, the Pension Fund.
It is worth noting that the new rules will take effect from April 4, 2025. Insured Ukrainians can also receive payments for temporary loss of ability to work by consulting a doctor remotely, using a phone or internet telephony. The doctor issues a medical conclusion about temporary incapacity for work in the form of an electronic document in the healthcare system.
