Changes in Electricity Tariffs for Ukrainians After the Heating Season

After the end of the heating season, which concludes on April 30, the electricity tariff in Ukraine will remain unchanged. Ukrainians will continue to pay 4.32 UAH per 1 kWh, as confirmed by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal. He noted that there are currently no discussions in the government regarding an increase in utility tariffs.

“We have no discussions in the government regarding tariffs. We have not considered the possibility of raising tariffs in the near future,” he said.

The electricity tariff in Ukraine operates in two modes: daytime and nighttime. During the day, the cost of electricity remains at the regular level, while electricity consumed at night, from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, is billed at a reduced rate, which is half the price.

Details of Tariffs and Their Impact on Household Expenses

Currently, the tariff in Ukraine is 4.32 UAH per kWh, while the nighttime tariff is 2.16 UAH per kWh. For example, a family of three living in an apartment with an electric stove and a boiler, consuming 300 kWh of electricity per month without a dual-tariff meter, will have to pay 1,296 UAH for electricity, as all consumed electricity will be calculated at the daytime tariff.

However, if part of the electricity is used at night, for instance, if the boiler or washing machines are turned on only during that time, then 200 kWh will be billed at the nighttime tariff. In this case, the family will pay 432 UAH for nighttime electricity and 864 UAH for daytime, totaling 1,296 UAH, but with the possibility of reducing expenses.
