Cabinet extends fuel cashback program until May 31, 2026

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has decided to extend the fuel cost reimbursement program until May 31, 2026. The aim of this step is to maintain support for citizens amid high fuel prices and significant popularity of the program among Ukrainians.

New terms and features of the cashback program

Starting from May 1, 2026, the maximum compensation amount will be up to 500 hryvnias per month for one user. The Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine noted that this amount corresponds to the average level of payments for most recipients and allows for targeted support, helping as many citizens as possible.

Since its launch on March 20, over two million Ukrainians have already benefited from the program and received cashback, indicating a real demand for this state assistance.

Advantages and coverage of the program for Ukrainians

According to the ministry, the program is primarily aimed at owners of budget-class vehicles, for whom fuel expenses are a significant burden on the family budget. Among users, 91% are indeed owners of cars with small engine capacity.

The program is compensatory in nature and allows for a partial reduction in fuel costs depending on its type. In particular, the savings amount to approximately:

  • 15% — on diesel fuel;
  • 10% — on gasoline;
  • 5% — on autogas.

A total of 219 gas station operators across the country have already joined the program: from leading national networks to local gas stations. This ensures the availability of cashback for most drivers regardless of the region.

A complete list of gas stations participating in the program is available on the portal National Cashback.

“We see that the program is working: millions of Ukrainians are already receiving cashback and primarily directing it towards paying for utilities and other daily expenses. This is direct support for households during a period of high fuel prices and at the same time a contribution to the stability of the domestic economy,” said Vitaliy Kindrativ, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture.

The fuel cashback program is part of the state initiative “National Cashback,” which already unites over 4.8 million active users. The updated terms provide for the continuation of the program in the future.

In addition to compensating for fuel expenses, “National Cashback” offers:

  • 15% cashback — on most non-food items and certain categories of food;
  • 5% — on food products, pharmaceutical goods, as well as gardening and horticultural products.

Cashback is accrued exclusively for cashless payments. The funds received can be directed towards paying for utilities and postal services, purchasing medicines, books, Ukrainian-made products, or for charity, including support for the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
