The first video of the testing of the updated BMW 5 Series for the 2027 model year has surfaced online. The premium sedan is undergoing trials at the legendary Nürburgring racetrack, showcasing significant changes in its exterior and interior.

Design in the style of Neue Klasse and interior innovations
The test specimen of the BMW 5 Series G60 is covered in camouflage, but key innovations can already be seen through the protective film. The front of the car is designed in the spirit of the Neue Klasse electric vehicles, such as the BMW i3 and iX3. Similar stylistic solutions are expected to be used in the interior of the new “five”.

BMW M5 with a hybrid powertrain and over 700 hp

Under the hood, the model will retain an all-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid powertrain that combines a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with an electric motor, producing over 700 horsepower.

The BMW 5 Series 2027 lineup will remain diverse: buyers will be able to choose from gasoline, diesel, and plug-in hybrid variants with engines of 2.0 and 3.0 liters, as well as fully electric versions like the BMW i5. The official premiere of the new model is expected to take place in the second half of 2026.
