Beet Prices in Ukraine Have Fallen by 15%: Current Costs and Reasons for the Decrease

The Ukrainian fruit and vegetable market is experiencing a further decline in wholesale prices for table beets. The main reason for this is the active influx of beet supplies from households, which are increasingly bringing their products to market, leading to an increase in supply.

Price Dynamics and Current Cost of Beets

According to analysts, the slowdown in beet sales has already been reflected in pricing policies. Since the beginning of the current week, the average wholesale price for beets has decreased by 15%. The product is being sold within the range of 4–9 UAH per kilogram ($0.09–$0.20 per kg), depending on the quality and volume of the batch. As a result, farmers and wholesale sellers are forced to adjust their prices according to market realities.

Main Reasons for the Decline in Beet Prices

Experts identify several factors that have contributed to the decrease:

  • Seasonal Increase in Supply – the arrival of a large quantity of beets from households has significantly increased the volume of goods in the market;
  • Weakening Demand – retail chains and wholesale buyers are currently reducing their purchases, which further impacts price reductions.

“Currently, table beets cost on average 65% less than during the same period in 2025. This indicates a significant seasonal drop in product prices and the influence of current market conditions.”

Additionally, a similar trend is observed in the carrot market – for the second consecutive week, a decrease in wholesale prices for this vegetable has been recorded. The reasons include weather conditions and an increase in market supply.
