ATB Corporation, the largest grocery retailer in Ukraine, has ambitious plans to expand its network to 5,000 stores, which is 250% more than the current number of 1,300 locations. By 2025, the company plans to acquire about 100 new stores and open 80. In comparison, leading European discounter Lidl has a network of 12,000 stores but operates in 33 countries.

Last year, ATB opened 47 new markets, and renovated 11 of them. The corporation’s total revenue in 2023 amounted to ₴208.9 billion. The investment in one new store is approximately $2.5 million. Currently, ATB is selecting locations for opening in populated areas with at least 10,000 residents and is actively implementing its know-how – placing stores on the outskirts of cities.
Energy independence through solar panels
Thanks to the installed solar panels, the retailer saves about ₴1.5 million per year on each store. For example, the solar power station (SPS) at one of the stores generates 50 kW of electricity per day, while the store itself consumes only 39 kW, with the surplus being returned to the power grid free of charge. The installation of solar panels began in 2024, and panels with a total capacity of 20 MW have already been purchased.
