The state program “Accessible Medicines” has undergone significant expansion: innovative medications for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, prevention of strokes and thrombosis, as well as therapy for type 2 diabetes and chronic lung diseases have been added.
This is reported by Finway
“The list includes popular modern medications: “Xarelto”, “Pradaxa”, “Eliquis”, “Farxiga”, “Jardiance”. Additionally, 19 variants of atorvastatin-based medications used for lowering cholesterol levels have been included.”
Updated Compensation Mechanism
A modernized approach to cost reimbursement has been implemented for new medications in the program. The state provides compensation in the form of a fixed amount per package. If the price of the medication exceeds the amount of compensation, the difference is covered by the patient. The final co-payment amount depends on the pricing policy of the specific pharmacy.
State Compensation Amounts
Patients can expect partial coverage of the cost of medications:
- “Eliquis” — over 570 UAH,
- “Pradaxa” — over 700 UAH,
- “Farxiga” — over 830 UAH,
- “Jardiance” — around 850 UAH,
- “Xarelto” — from about 250 UAH to over 1600 UAH depending on the dosage.
Thanks to these changes, access to modern treatment is becoming broader, especially for individuals with chronic illnesses who require ongoing medication therapy. The new mechanism significantly reduces the financial burden on patients who previously faced high costs for modern medications.
