Main Goals for the Government and Society
Svyrydenko thanked the president for his trust and the opportunity to work for the benefit of the country during this challenging period. Among the key tasks facing the new government, she highlighted:
- strengthening Ukraine’s economic potential;
- expanding support programs for citizens;
- scaling up domestic arms production.
According to the head of the Ministry of Economy, the implementation of these priorities is possible through deregulation, removing bureaucratic barriers, optimizing state expenditures, eliminating duplicative functions of state structures, protecting entrepreneurship, and concentrating resources on defense and the country’s recovery.
“First and foremost, this is ensuring the Defense and Security Forces of Ukraine and guaranteeing the resilience of our state. The state apparatus has no right to waste the resources and potential of our country. Ukraine deserves to be among the strongest economies in Europe,” Svyrydenko stated.
Next Steps and Personnel Decisions
Yulia Svyrydenko emphasized that Ukrainian society, especially the military and veterans, needs more effective tools for social support. She stressed the importance of cooperation with the Verkhovna Rada, which makes decisions regarding the appointment of the Prime Minister, and announced preparations for presenting government initiatives in parliament.
Svyrydenko reported that she would soon present her proposals regarding the composition of the future government. It is known that on July 14, Volodymyr Zelensky proposed Yulia Svyrydenko to lead the Ukrainian government.
As a reminder, Yulia Svyrydenko previously headed the Ukrainian delegation in negotiations with the United States regarding a resource agreement, which successfully concluded earlier this year. Her name was mentioned among the main candidates for the position of Prime Minister as part of the planned personnel changes in the executive branch by the president. Since 2020, the Prime Minister of Ukraine has been Denys Shmyhal, and there have been no official announcements regarding his resignation at this time.
