Yermak may have his attorney license suspended due to violations of NAAU requirements

Former head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak may temporarily lose his right to practice law due to non-compliance with mandatory professional requirements. After restoring his attorney status on January 23, 2026, Yermak, according to the regulations of the National Association of Attorneys of Ukraine (NAAU), was required to complete special continuing education courses if the break in practice lasted more than a year. For such cases, it is stipulated that within three months after returning to the profession, the attorney is obliged to undergo training.

Absence of confirmation of course completion

As established by journalists, there is no information about Yermak completing the relevant courses either in his profile on the official NAAU website or on the resources of the Higher School of Advocacy. Yermak himself confirmed in a comment to journalists that he had not undergone special training, explaining this by his significant legal experience and many years of working on legal issues during his tenure at the Office of the President.

Possible consequences and legal assessments

Non-compliance with the mandatory requirements of attorney self-government, according to the position of the surveyed lawyers, may be considered a disciplinary violation. According to attorney and serviceman Artem Donyets, sanctions for such a violation can range from a warning to temporary suspension or even termination of the right to practice law.

“This is considered a violation of the rules of attorney ethics, for which he should be held accountable — after all, Yermak did not fulfill these professional requirements.”

It was previously reported that the High Anti-Corruption Court arrested Andriy Yermak for 60 days.
