What payments can Ukrainians with different work records and salaries expect
According to calculations, if a person has worked officially for 40 years and has received an average salary during that time, their pension in 2025 will amount to 6022.8 UAH. With an increase in salary, the amount of pension contributions significantly rises. For instance, if an employee earned a salary that is 50% higher than the average (currently 27,883 UAH), and has 35 years of service, their pension would be 7904.9 UAH. With 40 years of service and the same salary, the pension would reach 9034.2 UAH.
Who receives pensions in Ukraine and what are their amounts
As of June 2025, over 10.3 million Ukrainians receive pensions. Among them, nearly 7.5 million individuals receive old-age pensions, while the rest belong to special categories: pensions for disability, in case of loss of a breadwinner, social pensions, as well as lifetime monetary maintenance for judges.
Judges receive the highest payments, as the law provides for lifetime monetary maintenance for them. The average amount of such a pension exceeds 108 thousand UAH.
- Old-age pension: 7,490,320 individuals, average amount – 6085.74 UAH
- For disability: 1,574,456 individuals, average amount – 5364.98 UAH
- In case of loss of a breadwinner: 682,890 individuals, average amount – 6493.20 UAH
- For length of service: 525,134 individuals, average amount – 12,315.12 UAH
- Social pensions: 54,646 individuals, average amount – 2826.49 UAH
- Lifetime maintenance for judges: 3,929 individuals, average amount – 108,321.63 UAH
“To calculate the pension, the following formula is used: average salary for the last three years * your years of service * the ratio of your salary to the average * 1%. Currently, the average salary for the last three years is 15,057.09 UAH. This is the base on which the pension amount is calculated. As seen from the formula, Ukrainians can claim only 1% of the calculated salary for each year worked.”
Thus, the size of the future pension directly depends on the level of salary and the duration of official work experience. The higher these indicators, the greater the payment awaiting the retiree.
