Supply for Deutsche Bahn and SBB
Under the new agreements, Voestalpine will provide Deutsche Bahn (DB) in Germany and Schweizerische Bundesbahnen (SBB) in Switzerland with tracks, switches, modern signaling systems, and monitoring solutions totaling €500 million. In addition to the main equipment, the contract includes the implementation of digital technologies to enhance safety, efficiency, and reliability of the railway networks.
“Voestalpine will supply tracks, switches, signaling, and monitoring systems worth €500 million for Deutsche Bahn (DB) in Germany and Schweizerische Bundesbahnen (SBB) in Switzerland.”
Comprehensive Services and Experience in Implementing Large-Scale Projects
As part of the contracts, the company will provide a full range of support services: from staff training and technical support across Germany to the supply of welded long rails and fully assembled switch systems directly to construction sites. This approach will maximize logistics optimization and expedite infrastructure installation.
It is worth noting that Voestalpine already has significant experience in implementing large-scale railway projects in Europe and beyond. In particular, the company recently supplied 290 km of premium 120-meter rails for the Koralmbahn high-speed line in Austria, as well as over 1,800 km of tracks for the Egyptian National Railways (ENR).
Voestalpine also played a key role in the modernization of the 70-kilometer Riedbahn line, which connects Frankfurt and Mannheim, considered one of the busiest railway routes in Europe. On this section, most of the switches are equipped with modern Voestalpine technologies.
