Details of Document Submission and Next Steps
According to the artist, the document submission process turned out to be quite complicated and exhausting: the paperwork took approximately five hours and required visits to various institutions, including the Ministry of Culture and several divisions of the State Migration Service. Only after all formalities were completed were Yulia Yurina’s documents officially accepted.
“I am grateful to everyone for their support. This long journey is not over yet, but it is already a significant step in my case. I want to emphasize that I am applying under Article 9, as an exception and as a person who constitutes a state interest for Ukraine”
In the future, Yurina’s case will be reviewed by the President of Ukraine. Additionally, the singer will need to pass exams on the history and Constitution of Ukraine. If all stages are successfully completed, she will be able to obtain a Ukrainian passport in approximately a year.
Bureaucratic Challenges and Yulia Yurina’s Status
Yulia Yurina has repeatedly emphasized that she has been living and working in Ukraine for many years, building her career exclusively within the Ukrainian cultural space. Despite her Russian origins, the singer has been trying for a long time to obtain Ukrainian citizenship, but faces numerous bureaucratic obstacles. Yurina also reacts strongly to attempts to identify her as a “singer from Russia,” stressing her desire to become a citizen of Ukraine.
