Support for the Draft Law in Parliament

The Speaker of Parliament, Ruslan Stefanchuk, who is one of the co-authors of the draft law, emphasized the need for thorough refinement of this initiative but noted the wide support among colleagues.

“Quality processing of such decisions requires time, but the support from colleagues in parliament is broad,” Stefanchuk stated.

Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Olena Kondratiuk, reported that the document has been supported by all factions, so the chances of its adoption are assessed as “quite high.” Currently, the draft law is being prepared for consideration in the relevant committees, and voting may take place during this session. The first reading is expected as early as November.

National Bank’s Plans for New Coins

The head of the National Bank of Ukraine, Andriy Pyshny, confirmed that the regulator is ready to begin minting coins with the new name as early as next year. He expressed hope that by 2026, Ukrainians will be holding not kopecks, but hryvnias.

The National Bank specifically emphasized that the name change will not require additional costs, as the issuance of new coins will occur within the planned processes of cash circulation renewal.
