Unemployment Assistance in Ukraine in June 2025: Amounts, Conditions, and Features of Receiving

In Ukraine, the number of officially registered unemployed at the beginning of 2025 was about 100,000 people, which is four times less than last year. However, according to unofficial data, the actual number of citizens without work significantly exceeds the official statistics. For those who have the status of unemployed, the state provides a support system for individuals without legal income who are ready to be employed.

Who Can Receive Assistance and How to Apply

According to the legislation, the status of unemployed can be granted to Ukrainian citizens aged 15 to 70 who are without work and income. To apply for unemployment assistance, one must have at least 7 months of official work experience before obtaining this status. If a person is registering for the first time at the Employment Center, they can expect a minimum payment of 1,500 hryvnias per month.

The status of unemployed can be obtained at the Employment Center or through the state electronic portal “Diia”. For this, the applicant must submit the following documents:

  • passport;
  • identification code;
  • employment record book (if available);
  • education document;
  • income statement;
  • bank card details for eSupport.

If the application is submitted through the “Diia” app, only passport data and bank card details for eSupport are required. A military ID is not a mandatory document for obtaining the status of unemployed, regardless of the method of application.

Duration and Amount of Unemployment Benefits in 2025

During the state of martial law, most unemployed individuals can receive assistance for 90 days, while those of pre-retirement age can receive it for up to 360 days. It is important to note that the specific duration of registration at the Employment Center is not limited, but the payment period is clearly defined.

The amount of unemployment assistance in June 2025 remains unchanged and depends on the insurance record and average salary:

  • up to 3 years of experience — 50% of the average salary;
  • from 3 to 6 years — 55%;
  • from 6 to 12 years — 60%;
  • from 12 to 18 years — 65%;
  • from 18 to 24 years — 70%;
  • from 24 to 30 years — 75%;
  • over 30 years of experience — 80%.

“The maximum amount of assistance has been increased to 8,000 UAH since January 1,” adds the expert.

Throughout the entire period of receiving assistance, its amount gradually decreases: in the first half of the designated period, the unemployed receives 100% of the accrued amount, while in the second half, only 50%.

Payments may be terminated if the established term ends (90 or 360 days), if the person becomes employed, or if an unemployed woman receives maternity benefits.
