The director of the company “UkrArmoTech,” which specializes in the production of armored vehicles, Hennadiy Khirhiy, stated the importance of easing export restrictions for enterprises in Ukraine’s defense industry. According to him, this is necessary for attracting investments, revitalizing key sectors, and creating new jobs in the country.

Export of Defense Products and Economic Potential
According to Khirhiy, in 2024, the production volume of the domestic defense industry reached 10 billion US dollars. At the same time, the industry’s potential allows for this figure to be increased to 20 billion dollars, and by the end of 2025, even to 35 billion US dollars. He emphasized that there are currently all grounds to expect significant progress in the export of defense products.
“Instead of a complete opening, there will be a liberalization with the possibility of agreeing on individual export contracts,” he suggested.
The Importance of Export for the Industry and the State
The top manager stressed that the export of weapons is a key source of foreign currency inflows, which are necessary for purchasing modern technologies, components, and raw materials, as well as for financing Ukraine’s defense needs. Furthermore, entering into long-term export contracts provides manufacturers with the opportunity to plan the development of their enterprises for years to come.
It is worth noting that similar trends are observed in other European countries. In particular, the upper house of the Swiss parliament recently supported a proposal to ease strict rules on the export of military products, including to regions experiencing armed conflicts. However, a decision from the lower house of the Swiss parliament is required for the final implementation of the new rules.
