As of early December, Ukrainian agricultural producers have harvested 53.597 million tons of grains and legumes, which accounts for 91% of the sown area. The wheat harvest has exceeded last year’s figures: this year, 22.96 million tons have been harvested, compared to 22.4 million tons last year. Corn has been harvested at 23.5 million tons from 78% of the area, while the oilseed crop totaled 17.11 million tons: rapeseed — 3.31 million tons, soybeans — 4.75 million tons, and sunflowers — 9.04 million tons. The soybean and rapeseed harvests are still ongoing.

Support for Farmers in Harvest Storage
To ensure effective storage of the harvested grain, 615 modular grain storage units have been provided to small and medium-sized farms in seven frontline regions. This initiative was implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) with the support of the governments of Canada and Japan. Since 2022, farmers in Ukraine have received over 37,000 grain sleeves, 105 sets of loading and unloading equipment, and a total of 859 modular grain storage units.
This support has allowed farmers to store over 8 million tons of grain.
Plans for Further Assistance
In 2026, the FAO, together with partners, plans to provide support to approximately 100 more farms. This will enhance farmers’ capacity for crop storage and strengthen food security in Ukraine.
