Over the past day, Ukrainian military recorded 174 combat engagements along the front line. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the morning of May 12.

Russia’s attacks in various directions

In the Northern Slobozhansky and Kursk directions, Russian troops made four assault attempts. In the Southern Slobozhansky direction, Ukrainian Armed Forces units repelled eleven enemy attacks.

Two attacks were recorded in the Kupiansk direction, and nine in the Sloviansk direction. The Lyman direction experienced seventeen attempts to break through the defense of the Ukrainian forces by Russia.

In the Kostiantynivka direction, the enemy attacked sixteen times in the areas of Pleshchiyivka, Kostiantynivka, Illinivka, Ivanopillia, Novopavlivka, Toretske, and Kucherevyi Yar.

The Pokrovsk direction remains the hottest

Ukrainian defenders stopped thirty-two assault actions by the Russian army in the Pokrovsk direction. Active combat operations took place near the settlements of Rodynske, Novooleksandrivka, Hryshyne, Bilitske, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Muravka, Novopidhorodne, Molodetske, as well as in the direction of Novopavlivka.

“In the Pokrovsk direction, our defenders stopped 32 assault actions by the aggressor in the areas of the settlements of Rodynske, Novooleksandrivka, Hryshyne, Bilitske, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Muravka, Novopidhorodne, Molodetske, and in the direction of Novopavlivka,” reports the command.

In addition, in the Oleksandrivka direction, Russian troops attempted to break through the defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces twice, and in the Orikhiv direction, there were four attacks. The Huliaipole direction became the arena for twenty attempts by Russian troops to advance towards Dobropillia, Staroukrainka, Zaliznychne, Nova Zaporizhzhia, Vozdvizhivka, Charivne, Hirke, and near Huliaipole.

It is worth noting that in the Kramatorsk and Dnipro directions, Russian troops did not conduct offensive actions over the past day.

According to the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, as of May 8, the Russian army had intensified offensive operations along almost the entire front line. He emphasized that “the Pokrovsk direction remains the most tense, where Russia has concentrated about 106 thousand personnel.”

Experts from the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) noted that Russian and Ukrainian forces continued limited offensive actions on the second day of the ceasefire agreement, which lasts from May 9 to May 11. Both sides accuse each other of violating the ceasefire on May 10.
