Ukraine Reduced Electricity Imports by 25% in March 2026

In March 2026, the volume of electricity imports to Ukraine decreased by 25%, totaling 942 thousand MWh. This trend has been recorded according to electricity market monitoring data.

Main Electricity Supplier Countries

Hungary remained the leader among countries supplying electricity to Ukraine in March, accounting for 48% of the total import volume. Romania came in second, providing 20% of the electricity imports.

Import and Export Dynamics Compared to Last Year

Compared to March 2025, electricity imports to Ukraine increased by 3.4 times, indicating a significant rise in demand or changes in the country’s energy balance structure.

In March of this year, Ukraine also resumed electricity exports after a several-month pause. The total export volume for the month reached 30.2 thousand MWh. The largest volume of electricity was exported to Moldova, accounting for 47.5% of total exports.
