Ukraine Matches Russia in Long-Range Drone Production Rates

The Ukrainian long-range drone FP-1, developed by Fire Point, has begun mass production at a rate of about 3,000 units per month. With this indicator, Ukraine has reached the level of the Russian Federation, which produces strike drones Shahed-136 in similar volumes. At the same time, the production cost of FP-1 is significantly lower due to unique technological solutions that allow for optimized manufacturing expenses.

FP-1 was officially presented in May 2025, and the company is currently producing an average of 100 such drones daily. In addition to FP-1, Fire Point has also established the production of the cruise missile FP-5, named “Flamingo,” expanding the range of modern strike capabilities for the Ukrainian army.

Funding Challenges and Production Scaling in Russia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that substantial financial support is necessary for the further development of drone production — currently, the funding shortfall is estimated at 6 billion dollars. Kyiv is hoping for assistance from international partners. According to the president, the Russian Federation continues to increase the number of drone attacks.

“We have everything we need to counter this, and therefore funding is crucial,” the President noted.

At the same time, Russia is ramping up its own production of Shahed drones and may soon reach an output of over 6,000 units per month. The low production cost of these drones enables Moscow to conduct nighttime and large-scale attacks, increasing the intensity of strikes on Ukrainian territory.
