Price Dynamics in Global and Ukrainian Markets
Global butter prices have fallen by more than 30% since late summer. This has significantly impacted the Ukrainian market. Last year, Ukrainian exporters sold butter to EU countries for 7 euros per kilogram, but now the price does not exceed 4.5 euros. This situation has forced Ukrainian processors to shift their focus to the domestic market, which consumers are already feeling in the form of lower prices on store shelves.
“Since late summer, global butter prices have decreased by over 30%. Last year, Ukrainian exporters sold this product to the EU for 7 euros per kilogram. Now this cost is no higher than 4.5 euros,” explained the expert.
Impact on Producers and Price Forecasts
According to the expert’s forecasts, by the end of the current year, the price of butter may decrease by 30-35%, and this trend will continue into the first half of 2026. Price reductions typically occur due to promotional offers in retail chains, allowing consumers to purchase dairy products at significantly lower prices.
A significant drop in the price of finished products has already affected the purchasing prices of raw milk. In particular, in mid-November, the price of “extra” class milk, which meets European standards, decreased by 17%. Under such circumstances, many producers are operating at the edge of profitability, and some enterprises are even incurring losses.
