Ukraine and Georgia Open New Logistics Route Across the Black Sea

“Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi Sea Port” has signed a memorandum of cooperation with APM Terminals Poti, a subsidiary of the international operator Maersk, which manages the largest sea port in Georgia — Poti.

This is reported by Finway

Strategic Cooperation for the Development of the Middle Corridor

Within the framework of the signed memorandum, the parties agreed to create a new ferry route that will connect the private sea ports of Ukraine and Georgia. To ensure effective logistics, the construction of a road-rail ferry complex is planned. Its design is being carried out by the new owner of the Ukrainian port — Top-Offer, which takes into account all modern requirements for cargo handling within the development of the transit route “Middle Corridor” (Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, TMTM).

Advantages of the New Bessarabia Route

One of the main goals of the memorandum is to attract cargo flow through the “Middle Corridor,” which will pass through Ukraine via a new railway route — Bessarabia Route (Ukraine — Moldova — Romania). This step is expected to enhance logistical interaction between the ports and promote an increase in trade turnover between Ukraine and Georgia.

However, it is reported that the full restoration of navigation from the “Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi Sea Port” will be possible only after the war is over and the issue of siltation of the access routes is resolved.
