In the first year of major privatization auctions, the Ukrainian state attracted 8.9 billion hryvnias from the sale of four strategic assets.

Which Assets Were Sold at the Auctions

The first asset sold under the major privatization program was the “Ukraine” hotel in Kyiv. During the auction, the value of this asset increased from the initial 1 billion hryvnias by more than 2.5 times, reaching over 2.5 billion hryvnias.

The second significant lot was the United Mining and Chemical Company, which was sold for over 3.9 billion hryvnias.

Sale of Sanctioned Assets and Budget Revenues

Among the sold lots were also two property complexes that were under sanctions. The gas concrete plant “Aerok” attracted three bidders, which allowed the price to nearly double – to almost 1.9 billion hryvnias.

The value of “Vinnytsiaobukhim” also doubled during the bidding, amounting to over 608.1 million hryvnias. The funds obtained from the sale of sanctioned assets have already been transferred to the Fund for the Elimination of the Consequences of Armed Aggression.

“As of September 18, two more auctions for major privatization have been announced, with a total starting value of nearly ₴4.8 billion. Anyone interested, except for participants connected to the aggressor country, can compete for the right to purchase the Odesa Portside Plant and the sanctioned asset ‘Motor Detail-Konotop’,” the State Property Fund reminded.
